He and his father, Mathias (I) immigrated to America from Germany togerther about 1750 and landed in Philadelphia on Tuesday the 28th of August. Young Mathias Morte was about 10 years old. They settled in Cumberland County and in 1760 the younger Mathias moved to Frederick County, Maryland; bought several acreas of land just South of Tanytown Md. along Little Pipe Creek; and married a woman named Elizabeth. His Father Mathias (I) died in 1757.
